Left to right:  Kurt Gerron (Director of Merijntje), Paula van Houten-Barnstijn and A.M. DeJong (Author of Merijntje) at a dinner celebrating several awards won by the picture "Merijntje Gijzens Jeughd".  Kurt Gerron, a German Jew was coerced to make a propaganda film for the Nazis named "Prisoner in Paradise".  Upon completion of the film, Gerron was shipped off to Aushwitz and executed.
